How You Can Help
EnergyCare offers a variety of volunteer opportunities for individuals and for groups. Some of the most popular are listed here.

Fall and Winter Opportunities

Home Weatherization: Weatherization is our most popular volunteer activity, especially for groups such as clubs, classes, and church groups. After a brief training session, volunteers accompany staff members into clients’ homes in order to install energy-saving materials such as clear vinyl for windows and weather-stripping for doors.

Preparation of Weatherization Kits: Instead of going to clients’ homes, volunteers meet at EnergyCare to assemble kits full of energy-saving weatherization materials. These kits are then distributed by EnergyCare to able-bodied people throughout the fall and winter.

Spring and Summer Opportunities

Air Conditioner Pickup Program: After a brief orientation session, volunteers will pick up new and used window air conditioners from EnergyCare donors around the St. Louis area throughout the late spring and summer. This activity requires the commitment of a few hours each week.

Year-round Opportunities

Blanket Drives: Ideal for clubs, classes, offices and churches, sponsoring a blanket drive is a great way to get involved. EnergyCare can help you organize a blanket drive to collect new or like-new blankets that we will then distribute to our low-income elderly and ill clients.

Maintenance: Help EnergyCare maintain its buildings and grounds. Possible activities include cleaning, yard work, painting and minor repairs.
