The Band is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt, grass-roots organization that rehearses and performs year round, with an emphasis on it's summer series, Sunday Serenades & Musical Mondays. In addition, the Band's annual Powell Hall Pops is in intregal part of the year-round program of activities. A portion of the funds come from generous support from the above and from individual donors. In addition, the Band has had many fundraising activities throughout the years, including fruit sales, flea market, auctions, opera travel tours, house raffle, and bingo. The Bingo is an ongoing fundraising activity. Thousands of hours are expended each year running two charity bingos to keep the concerts going. Band members volunteer for those, as well as rehearsing and performing.

The expenses of bringing concerts to the public are year-round and include: Music, Music, publicity, soloists, professional conductor and musicians, music arranging fees, accounting/audits, office staff (2), equipment acquisition, maintenance, insurance, portable stage, truck for transporting the stage, truck for chairs/stands/percussion, concession trailer, stage hands, PA operator, cleaning supplies, instruments, sound equipment, copier, fax, telephone, computer, printer, postage, paper, licenses, dues, recording costs, manufacturing, travel/buses/food for touring, rehearsal and office space rental, costs of running bingo hall operation, concession staff, security guards, workmen's comp, signage, instrumental repairs, choral risers, rental of indoor concert venue including ushers, stage hands, percussion, piano/organ, box office, sound, light, recording, security, and any other costs associated, as well.
