Channel 9 Back at Campbell House
Patrick Murphy, executive producer of the Emmy-winning Channel 9 program Living St. Louis, was back at Campbell House with a camera crew on January 26. Murphy is preparing a story about Lucas Place. The piece is expected to air in March or April 2006.

Virginia Campbell Exhibit at UMSL Opens March 15
A new exhibit exploring the life of Virginia Campbell will open on March 15, 2006 at the University of Missouri-St. Louis (UMSL). The exhibit "The Fascinations of the World": Virginia Kyle Campbell in Her Own Right will display some of Virginia's possessions and photos at Gallery Visio in the UMSL Millennium Student Center. The exhibit was curated by Dr. Kathleen Nigro, assistant director of the Institute for Women's and Gender Studies at UMSL.

An opening reception will be held at 4 p.m. on March 15. The exhibit is free and open to the public and runs through March 30, 2006. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Thursday.

The exhibit is part of the UMSL Women on the Move installation in celebration of Women's History Month. Last year's exhibit focused on St. Louis-born author and columnist Emily Hahn. Directions to the Millennium Center.

Summer Exhibit at Campbell House set to Open May 10
The Museum's summer exhibit "Our Time Has Been Much Occupied"-The Campbells on Tour opens on May 10, 2006 in the museum's two special exhibit galleries on the third floor. The exhibit will explore the Campbell family's trips to Europe and beyond beginning in 1867 and lasting through the 1890s and will feature 12 large-format albumen photographs of places they visited along with other souvenirs they collected on their travels. The exhibit will also feature five interpretive panels.

Admission to the exhibit is included in regular museum admission. The exhibit will be open during regular museum hours.

ETC. Theatre Performance Scheduled for May 13
In conjunction with the Campbell House summer exhibit (see above) the ETC. Senior Theatre Company-the official Campbell House theater company-will perform its own take on the Campbell's tours abroad in a series of performances at the museum on Saturday, May 13, 2006. The troupe has created a series of short sketches titled Blue, Gray and Grand which are based on the Campbell's experiences during the Civil War and leading up to their Grand Tour in 1867. Each sketch will be performed in different room in the house.

Six separate performances will start on the hour beginning at 10 a.m. Remaining performances will begin at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Each performance will last about one hour. Tickets are $20, $15 for members of Campbell House Museum members. Tickets can be purchased by calling the Museum at 314-421-0325.

Historic House Museums in the Post-Dispatch
A short story about St. Louis' historic house museums is scheduled to run in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on March 7. The story will profile Campbell House, Cupples House, DeMenil Mansion, Eugene Field House and Scott Joplin House. A photo of visitors in the Campbell House parlor is set to be featured.

Gazebo Restoration Begins
Restoration of the garden gazebo has begun and is expected to be completed by mid-May. The restoration of the gazebo is being completed in honor of Vernon W. and Marion K. Piper and was made possible by a lead gift from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph F. Gleason.
