OLD BUSINESS

Approval of November Minutes: Minutes of the November, 1998 meeting were approved with no changes. The treasurer's report was also approved at this time. There was $1300 in the treasury.

Announcement: Rich Finch of the Senior Center on Arsenal reminded us that they serve dinners for $2 on Tuesday nights. They also need a commercial stove if anyone knows one that is available.

NEW BUSINESS

Egg Hunt: Maureen Brady and Bob Voss will be running the egg hunt this year. Yvonne Neighbors will have the residents at Deaconess Manor dye eggs. Mr. Meredith asked for volunteers to help Maureen and Bob.

St. Louis Ambassadors Flea Market: Mr. Meredith explained that this was a citywide flea market for all neighborhood associations. It would be held at Keiner Plaza on Saturday May 15. We could have a booth and make money, but Mr. Meredith asked for a volunteer to coordinate this.

Housing Inspections: Mr. Meredith suggested forming a housing committee to put together a plan so that if we decided to join the the voluntary inspection program, we could be able to help those with violations. Elizabeth Vogel said she would serve on the committee.

St. Patrick's Day: St. Pat's falls the day before our next meeting. Paul Yaloures went to the police meeting and reported that the streets that will be closed are Clayton from Art Hill to Graham, Tamm from Berthold to West Park from 10am to midnight. Activities stop at 8pm, but then street crews come through to clean up. A member said that he thought some streets, specifically Nashville, were closed to traffic long after it should have been last year.

Officer Dave Ramsey responded to that complaint. He said the command van would be parked at Art Hill and Clayton Ave. You could call him at 313-4663 with St. Pat's related problems.

Mr. Meredith said we would again have a booth selling T-shirts, donuts and hot chocolate. He asked for an expenditure of $100 to buy donuts and hot chocolate, which we would recoup in sales. What donuts we don't sell would be used for the meeting the next day. The motion carried.

Derio Gambaro said he would donate shamrock cookies from the Missouri Baking Co. for the event. Mr. Meredith made a motion to spend $25 for the float for the Mayor of Dogtown. The money goes to the Hibernians.

Ball Game: Mr. Meredith said we would once again be going to the Cardinals game. This year, the date would be Monday May 10. you must buy tickets in advance. There would be a shuttle, but since you get your tickets in advance, you could drive yourself if you wanted. Mr. Meredith made a motion for $280 for advance purchase of tickets. The motion carried.

More St. Patrick's Day announcements: Mr. Yaloures said people who live on Tamm should find another place to park from 7am to keep streets clear before the event and to midnight so street crews can clean up after the event. Tamm Avenue residents can also participate in a house decorating contest sponsored by the Hibernians. Last year, the crowd was well behaved, only one arrest, for underage drinking.

Mr. Yaloures also encouraged those in attendance to try the new Courtesy Diner.

Candidate Forum: Mr. Meredith said the candidate forum would be Wednesday, February 24. It will include four candidates, and Franz Park, Hi Pointe and the Business Association will all be there.

Announcement: A member said the light at Knox and Manchester, the push button for "walk" was not working. Member Sam DiCarlo said he would call the traffic division to check that out.

Police Report: Officer Ramsey introduced Emmit Gelhot, who will be the walking officer in the neighborhood. Officer Gelhot is a 27-year veteran. Officer Ramsey said to call him on St. Patrick's day with parade related problems, if there is an emergency call 911.

Mayor Of Dogtown Election: Mr. Meredith opened the floor to nominations. Four were nominated: Dean Meredith, Elizabeth Vogel, Maureen Brady and Bob Pierce. There was a ballot vote, and Ms. Vogel won the honor.

Next Meeting: Maryanne Dersch said Mayor Harmon would speak at our next meeting, and please come so we can have a big turnout.

State Representative's Announcements: Derio Gambaro said he was seven weeks on the job and having a good time. His two issues were housing and education. He said there were two tax credits that the legislature would vote on: one for tax credits for home repairs, and tax credits for companies that donate high tech equipment to schools. He also introduced the three aldermatic candidates here tonight: Joe Vollmer, Dan Drago, and Tom Bauer.

Adjournment: There being no other business, Mr. Meredith adjourned the meeting at 8:15 pm.

Respectfully submitted,
