General Meeting

Minutes

Call to Order: President Dean Meredith called the meeting to order at 7:30pm.

Approval of April Minutes: Minutes of the May, 1998 meeting were approved with no changes. The treasurer's report was also approved at this time.

New Assistant Secretary: Julie George moved out of the neighborhood and had to resign her position. Jason Stratman was nominated as the new assistant secretary. Members present unamimously elected Mr. Stratman.

Non Profit Status: Mr. Meredith said we were no longer a corporation in good standing with the state of Missouri. An annual resgistration report had not been filed since 1994. Mr. Meredith asked membership for $120 fro filing fees to file back reports. Ms. Dersch said this was necessary to obtain nonprofit status from the federal government.

Officer Vize: Officer Bill Vize said he would be on vacation and would not be patrolling the neighborhood until after Fair St. Louis. The building at 6161 Crescent was condemned as a nuisance property. By the nect meeting, there will be a new police substation at Deaconess Hospital. He said the computer there will help him do his job much more efficiently. He gave the crime report for the month. He said the auto dealership on Manchester was shut down. He said a new group owned the St. Louis Marketplace and there will be no substation there any more., nor secondary police patrols. A member said a letter should be written to the new owners requesting secondary police patrols. Ms. Dersch said she would find out who the new owner is and write a letter. Another issue was repairing cars in the street at the auto repair shops on Manchester Road.

Angelo Sita, St. Louis Development Corporation: Mr. Sita said he was the district manager of the neighborhood of the program to revitalize store fronts and strip areas. At least eight businesses in the area have signed on. He has opportunities for 20. He has worked with the Dogtown Business Association for new trash cans in the neighborhood. An issue was raised about imporoving the St. Louis Marketplace. Mr. Sita said he did not oversee the Marketplace, but would put the neighborhood association in touch with the person who does.

Other Business: Mr. Meredith thanked Sam DiCarlo and Bill Miller for their work with the city in getting a left turn lane at Manchester and McCausland. A member said the traffic there was still bad. Mr. Meredith suggested contactin the traffic division to change the timing. Mr. Meredith reminded everyone to buy baseball tickets. He also said he will be delivering letters to the businesses on Hampton to remind them to keep their property clean and free of litter.

Michael Kocher of St. Louis Strings said he received a letter and petition for a liquor license forom Extra Innings, the new restaurant in the Dogtown Bistro location. He was concerned that this might be a bar only, not a restaurant, and that the license was to sell package liquor. This made others concerned as well. Mr. Meredith said the owner would be contacted and invited to speak at the next meeting.

Adjournment: There being no other business, Mr. Meredith adjourned the meeting at 8:45pm.
