General Meeting

Minutes

Call to Order: President Dean Meredith called the meeting to order at 7:35pm.

Approval of June Minutes: Minutes of the June, 1998 meeting were approved with no changes. The treasurer's report was also approved at this time.

Elliot Leibson: Neighborhood Stabilization Officer Liebson said he works with Michell Boston-David as the NSO for our neighborhood. Mr. Leibson took questions about how to get property condemned, and how Section 8 housing is selected.

Police Report: Officer Vize gave a brief report on crime statistics for the last month.

Bridget O'Brien, Humane Society: Ms. O'Brien gave a talk on 10 wasy to be a better pet owner(especially cleaning up after your pet!). Members present had questions about stray cat problems in the area. She left information brochures and giveaway items.

Extra Innings: Dan Abousse and Pam Culpepper from Extra Innings restaurant informed those present about the new restaurant. It will have a sports theme. An August opening was planned. They passed out a preliminary menu. They plan on serving food after 11 p.m. to get the late shift from Deaconess. They said they would try to accommodate neighborhood concerns about noise, trash pickup and traffic. They said they are applying for a full drink liquor license, but would not be serving packaged liquor.

Other Business: Mr. Meredith reported he delivered letters to businesses on Hampton urging them to keep their property clean. The baseball game went to 13 innings, so everyone had a great time and got their money's worth.

Mr. Meredith thanked CTCA memeber Sue Fleming for organizing the next outing, a trip to the Augusta Wineries. Mr. Meredith said more details would be coming soon.

At the request of Captain Oldani and Officer Dave Ramsey, Officer Vize said CTCA members could write letters to local papers in support or in opposition of a new police helicopter which would be paid for with confiscated drug money. Those present felt they didn't know enough about the situation to decide either way so a decision was tabled until next month.

Ted Wofford, architect behind the arena/aquarium development, was relocating offices to Wade Ave. Hearing to zone the area for commercial use will be July 29 at 1:30 in Room 208 of City Hall.

Jerry Rombach from St. James the Greater parish and school marketing committee said there were positive changes going on in the school. Enrollemtn is at 154. Development campaign raised $450,000 for capital improvements.

Adjournment: There being no other business, Mr. Meredith adjourned the meeting at 8:45pm.
