Call to Order: President Dean Meredith called the meeting to order at 7:37pm. |

Approval of July Minutes: Minutes of the July, 1998 meeting were approved with one change: Ted Wofford's office is on Tamm, not Wade. The treasurer's report was also approved at this time as submitted. |
|
Winery Trip: Mr. Meredith said ticket were available for the trip to Mt. Pleasant Winery in Augusta for $15 which includes the bus ride and admission to the festival. |
|
Home Loans: Mr. Meredith said money was available through the city for low and middle income families in the 24th Ward for home repairs. $7,300 is the average amount. |
|
Extra Innings: The liquor license hearing was held. They will not be open until 3 a.m., no package liquor can be sold and there will be a litter patrol. They are hoping to open on August 29. |

City Helicopter Issue: Mr. Meredith said he found one article about the helicopter. Decided not to get involved as an organization, but encouraged individuals to express their opinion. |

T-Shirts: Ms. Ana Casey, treasurer, will again be ordering T-shirts to sell. An expense of $1,000 will be needed to purchase 250 shirts, which will generate an income of $2500. This time we will order XXLs, more XLs and Mediums. A motion was passed unanimously for the expenditure. |

Gazebo: Mr. Meredith asked if we would consider donating CTCA's gazebo to the community garden. Motion passed unanimously. |

Cheesecakes and Company: Mr. Meredith introduced the proprietors of the new bakery. They thanked the neighborhood for their support, and said they were pleased with the response. They are now open on Sundays. |

Police Report: Officer Vize gave statistics on crimes in the last month: 1 robbery, 3 residential burglaries, 7 larcenies, 1 auto theft, 3 simple assaults. Mr. Paul Yaloures, vice president, presented Officer Vize with a plaque thanking him for his dedication to the community. |

Newsletter Correction: Mr. Yaloures apologized for an error in the newsletter. Margaret Irvin was incorrectly named in the July newsletter. She was a founder of CTCA and kept it alive for a long time. |

Larry Rugg, Courtesy Diner: Mr. Rugg recently purchased the property on Crescent and Hampton to build a 45 seat diner. He brought menus. The diner will be open 24-hours and have an old-fashioned look to it. There will be 17 parking spaces. He hopes to open in January. The property has a full release from Mo. Dept. of Natural Resources because it was once a gas station. Mr. Rugg said he would do whatever he could to buffer his business with the residential neighbors on Crescent, such as fencing and landscaping. There will be no unloading on Crescent, and it will be right turn only out of the driveway onto Crescent. |

Gene Fuller, Phoenix Construction: Mr. Fuller reported on several buildings in the neighborhood. Vacant lot on West Park at Tamm will be a single-family home. 6429 West Park: was burned out and will need a complete rehab. Just took away much of the debris. Residents comlained the house needed to be boarded up and the grass cut. |

Mike Zundel, TRIAD Housing: He reported on three target properties. 1575 Louisville: they have received eminent domain, the building will be torn down and they will receive proposals to rebuild. 6421 Lloyd: they are asking Board of Alderman for eminent domain on this property, it was condemned. 6448 Nashville: this one is also condemned but owner will fight it. 6161 Crescent is condemned. |

Alderman Joe Roddy: Mr. Roddy asked if anyone had questions. Members complained about single 16 oz. cans being sold from liquor and gas stations stores. Mr. Roddy said you can get a petition from the excise commissioner to get signatures to justify why businesses could keep their liquor license. Mr. Yaloures said that our neighborhood and Cheltenham could work together to get signatures. |

Michelle Boston David: Ms. Boston-David reported that Auto Storage pool at Mitchell and Manchster has been cited for storing cars in an inappropriate area. There will be a hearing on the matter on August 26 at 2:30 in room 208 of City Hall about the matter. She encouraged residents to come or write letters to the Board of Adjustment not granting the owners a change of zoning to store old cars there. |

Other Business: St. James will have a Golf Tournament and dinner/auction on Friday, September 11. |
