2000 Accomplishments

  • DeSales MHA 2000: Awarded a critical allocation of Low Income Housing Tax Credits from the Missouri Housing Development Commission. The credits were received for DeSales MHA 2000, a 31-unit, 11-building project in Fox Park and Tower Grove East. Work will begin in early 2001.

  • Matched Savings Program: Based on the Individual Development Account model, DeSales is providing a dollar-for-dollar match, up to $500, for Mutual Housing Association residents. MHA residents must meet Matched Savings Program guidelines to receive this match.

  • 3523 Halliday: Purchased this two-family from HUD, which had foreclosed on it. DeSales sold the building to a first-time homeowner who will rehab the property. The new owner will live in one unit and rent the other.

  • 2714 Russell: Purchased this fire-damaged, vacant two-family for rehab as part of an Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit project.

  • Super Tru Buy Grocery: Purchased this vacant store and conveyed it to the City. With help from 7th Ward Alderwoman Phyllis Young the store was demolished and the lot graded. The lot will be landscaped as part of the existing Fox Park.

  • 3500 Utah: Purchased this vacant corner commercial property and conveyed it to the City. Building sold to an artist who will rehab space as artist studios.

  • Landscaped Corner Lots: With assistance from 7th Ward Alderwoman Phyllis Young, DeSales landscaped two vacant corner lots along California Avenue.

  • 2816 Accomac: Purchased this former boarding house with plans to sell to owner-occupant. Also assisted with sale of 2812 Accomac, another former boarding house.
