Jim Andris
Jim Andris is kind of an enigma. He's always had a lot of talent, but
seems content to fritter it away without accomplishing very much. However,
there are a few ragtime accomplishments that he is kind of proud of.
- Jim has performed at the vast majority of the now 80 odd Ragtime
Rendezvous meetings held at Dressel's Cafe the First Sunday of every
month from 5:30-8:30, supported by his adoring fan club, justly called "The
Ragtime Rascals." Rascals, you know who you are.
- Due to a depressing lack of volunteers and available talent, Jim
has served on the Board of the Friends of Scott Joplin, and has held
every office on that Board. He has been equally inept at all of them,
but hangs on tenaciously. (Volunteers to the Board would be greatly
appreciated by the Friends of Scott Joplin.)
- Jim maintains the Friends of Scott Joplin website. (This he almost
does a good job on.)
- More recently, and much thanks due to the Friends of Scott Joplin
and various of its members, Jim has published a folio of 9 rags and
3 ragtime songs, called Ragtime Rendezvous.
- Ragtime Rendezvous recently received a
favorable review at Jack Rummel's site.
- Jim has been recognized as
an International Ragtime Composer at Oleg Mezjuev's Swedish
Ragtime Home Page.
- Jim was honored when local artist Patsy Madinger performed his St.
Louis Zoo Rag at the International Scott Joplin Festival in Sedalia,
Missouri in June of 2004.
- Jim's performances of Joplin's Paragon Rag and Lamb's Ragtime Nightengale
were included in the Circle of Friends CD produced
by the Friends of Scott Joplin earlier this year.
- The picture to the right is of Jim at The Pub Above at Dressel's
Cafe performing his original composition "The Microcomputer Blues." He
invites you to come and join us some first Sunday. It's a lot of fun.
