Treemonisha Coming Soon!

The Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, acclaimed by the New York Times as "more a living theatrical tradition than a museum culture", will be presenting Scott Joplin's opera Treemonisha this coming May and June. This will be Treemonisha's first performance in more than twenty years, and is a once-in-a-lifetime event for the St. Louis area. The production will be directed by Rhoda Levine, who staged The Life and Times of Malcolm X at the New York City Opera, and the conductor is Jeffrey Huard, who has led acclaimed productions of Showboat and Ragtime on Broadway. The soloists are all exceptional young African-American artists.

The Friends of Scott Joplin invite you to join us for the 8 p.m. performance on Saturday, June 24th, 2000. (Specific, dated material deleted.)
