Kingsbury Square Association Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

January Monthly Meeting

Time: 1:00 PM

Place: Kayak's Coffee Shop

Attendees: John Barack (President), Molly Rater (Vice-President and interim secretary), and Gayle Evans (architectural committee). Guest: Mark Jaffee

New Business:

Mark Jaffee announced function hosted by Alderman Williamson at Big Jakes on March 21st-uncertain of time

Mark Jaffee spoke about 7th district Police Business Association. Membership fee of 100 dollars is optional but is used to create discretionary fund for 7th district headed by Captain Moran. Some of the monies used to award police officers in 7th district that have been exceptionally effective/helpful to citizens. Pat Hagen is current president. Meetings are 2nd Thursday of month at North Union Patrol. Members may be individuals or associations. DeBaliviere Place is a member.

Jaffee updated board on recent development: 3 more foundations in on 5700 block of McPherson and rehab being done at 5782 McPherson. Jaffee requested support of Kingsbury Square in acquiring property at 5780 McPherson. Barack requested sample letter of support from Jaffee that KS Ass. Board could send to city. Letter of support to be discussed at next meeting.

Treasurer's Report:

Treasurer not present. Barack gave treasurer's report. Action of delinquent dues not to be taken until next month. At March meeting, treasurer will have updated list of owners and balances due. Presently, Kingsbury Square I: 3,097 dollars still due, Kingsbury Square II: 2,197.70 still due.

Barack reported that we have received 10% discount on snow plowing fees by paying on time.

Architecture/Maintenance:

Architectural committee notices and copy of declarations of Covenants to be distributed to residents by mid March. Rater agreed to distribute notices. Re-inspection of properties to be done in the fall.

Social:

Rater will be block captain for Operation Brightside Blitz day on April 2, 2005. Focus will be on cleaning up park and landscaping. There is already a documented plan for park's landscaping. Barack suggested professional help with landscaping. Rater suggested getting advice from a master gardener on blitz day. Evans is friends with master gardener and will ask him about availability for April 2nd. Rater will send out notices for blitz day in mid-March.

Safety:

Rater reported that new speed limit signs up on Kingsbury and Westminster. Rater will contact Larry Isom again about stop sign at Kingsbury Square East and Kingsbury.

Landscaping:

Barack reported one salting 2 weeks ago for ice storm. Landscaping company (A-1 Walls/ Patios and More) has expressed interest in our landscaping business. They will match our best price and maintain that price for 2 years. 10% discount for prompt payment.

SDCC meeting:

Barack attended meeting Feb. 15th, which did not have a quorum. Barack reported information from that meeting. Overall, crime in the area is down.

Next Meeting:

Tentatively set for March 19 or 26. Barack to send out e-mails to all members and decide on date. Rater suggested Sweet Dough/Hot Beans Coffee Shop as venue for next meeting.
