Step right up, Ladies and Gentlemen,
for our annual tour of St. Louis' most
endangered historic
buildings.

We'll follow the example set by the Chamber of Commerce
in the first issue of Greater
St. Louis, their official bulletin.

The cover of that September 1919 issue depicted the vibrant corner at Eighth and Olive, where delivery boys raced trolleys and ladies in hats crowded the streets.

The inside cover -- shown above -- featured a sketch of one of their destinations, the interior of one of the buildings featured on the cover, drawn by the architect himself.
Yes, it's the elegant European-style two-story shopping area -- the arcade that gave the Arcade Building designed by Tom P. Barnett its name.

Sadly, the Arcade/Wright Building at 804 Olive Street, a designated City Landmark, continues to top our list of St. Louis' most endangered historic buildings.

Click on Barnett's sketch to continue the tour
(a map designed to take you directly to each site will appear in this space shortly!).
