Priority Projects

1. Boeing Awareness

The St. Louis hosts the weapons divisions of this major military contractor, responsible for a variety of missiles and fighter planes. Boeing's subsidiary McDonnell Douglas had a longtime St. Louis presence as a military contractor before being purchased by Boeing. PEP tracks the activities and contracts of this company and seeks to show the connections between its activities and world events. The company is involved in jet, space, missile, and bomb manufacture and sales. In association with our on going monitoring of Boeing's activities, PEP tracks military spending and foreign arms sales, and offers some analysis of the military budget. While several groups track the arms trade, only PEP focuses on Boeing.

3. Instead of War

This is our newest project. PEP is part of the local coalition speaking out against a looming war with Iraq. Over twelve organizations participate in this collaboration, which advocates for nonviolent alternatives to war. The coalition was developed after September 11, 2001 as an organizing entity in St. Louis on this issue. The coalition connects the question of a war on Iraq with both domestic and local consequences through organizing rallies, sponsoring speakers, hosting a Town Hall meeting and nonviolent direct actions.
