Target Population/Primary Client Group(S):
Youth, and their parents, residing in the neighborhoods surrounding Prince Hall Family Support Center

Services Provided:

Free computer training is provided, by volunteer instructors, with a focus on training youth in the area, along with their parents. In addition to obtaining information and knowledge relative to the workings and use of computers, it is desired that the sessions will enhance bonding between parents and their children, and aid in establishing, improving and/or maintaining positive family relationships.

Instruction includes subject areas dealing with how computers work, how they can be used to accomplish things now and in the future, and how they might be utilized to earn money.

Cultural competency training can be provided for child welfare professionals and other interested people.

Basic and in-depth, hands-on training is provided in the utilization of various software programs.

Eligibility Requirements:

It is expected that participants will be residents of the community who are eight years of age or older.

Other Data:
New training sessions are begun as the need increases.

Although the training is focused primarily on providing training for eligible community residents, when space is available, staff of Prince Hall Family Support Center's resident agencies may also be accepted for training.
