TARGET POPULATION/PRIMARY CLIENT GROUP(S):
Children's Division of the State of Missouri,Foster care adolescents who are under the care and/or under the supervision of the Division of Youth Services, youth involved with the St. Louis City Family Court - Juvenile Division, youth and families who are participants in the St .Louis Family and Juvenile Drug Courts and expecting and pareting teens.

The program recruits individuals from local corporations, business and other organizations and trains them to become mentors. As mentors they are matched with young people who are under the custody of the Children's Division or the supervision of the Division of Youth Services.

Youth selected for the program are employed, on a part-time basis, byan organization in which a mentor works. The mentor then provides support and guidance for the youth at the work site.

The young people who paricipate must continue their education while employed.

Eligibility Requirements

  • Youth, ages 16 - 21
  • CD & DYS clients
  • City or County resident
  • For teen parents, youth under 21 years of age or younger, with not more than two children, one of whom must be younger than two years old.
