Target Population/Primary Client Group(S):
Pregnant and/or breast feeding mothers

Women up to six months postpartum

Infants and children up to age five

Services Provided:

WIC provides education, guidance and counseling concerning nutrition to all its participants.

WIC also provides a supplemental food package which includes milk, cheese, infant formula, iron-fortified cereal, eggs, fruit juice, peas or beans, and peanut butter. Carrots and tuna are foods issued also for "fully" breast feeding mothers. Participants are given a voucher to take to contracted grocers to obtain these foods.

Eligibility Requirements:

Gross household income must exceed 185% of poverty.

Applicants must be at a nutritional risk as determined by a health professional.

Other Data:

There are no geographical boundaries. WIC has nine other sites in St. Louis City and participants can transfer to the site which is most convenient for them.

Presently, services are available Tuesday and Thursday from 7:30am until 4pm, and Fridays from 8am until 5pm.
