Opportunities to Participate in SLACO
SLACO's Make a Difference Center offers after-school programming and summer peace camp for the communities at Etzel Place Apartments in the West End Neighborhood. These programs strive to create a greater sense of community, to provide a safe place for children/youth to attend after school, and to enhance the living environment for all the neighborhood's residents.
The center needs both tutors and mentors for the after-school & summer program. A more detailed volunteer job description is available from Chris Crenshaw, the MADC Program Director, at 361-1446. Volunteers must agree to a criminal background check by the State of Missouri.
The program's office hours are Monday - Friday from 10am - 6pm. The After School Program hours are from 3pm - 6pm.
Practicum and Internship Opportunities
SLACO offers students a chance to get out and see the impact of what they study in
St. Louis' neighborhoods. Students are able to design projects to fit their
academic focus and interests. SLACO's staff is willing to work with students
from any area University.
