CLASSIFICATIONS:
Includes all events that may be participated in within each division. Example:
Architectural Drafting Division has six classifications: 1) AD-1 Basic Arch.,
2) AD-2 Adv. Arch., 3) AD-3 Arch. Pres., 4) AD-4 Arch. Models, 5) AD-5 Arch.
CAD, and 6) AD-6 Advanced Arch. CAD.
GROUPS:
Group A is for students in grades 6, 7 and 8.
Group B is for students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 who receive instruction
for less than 10 clock hours per week in industrial technology education in
the subjects represented by their entries and have had less than 1 school year
or 2 semesters maximum in a Technology Education class.
Group C is for students in grades 10, 11 and 12 have had more than 1
school year or more than 2 semesters in a Technology Education class.
Group D is for students in vocational, trade, industrial, and technical
high schools or classes spending 10 clock hours or more per week in a shop,
laboratory, or drawing room receiving instruction in the subjects represented
by their entries.
Group E is for the non-gifted or Students with disabilities in Industrial
Technology classes.
Note: In an effort to recognize the exceptional student, "Group E"
has been created. The exceptional student may be entered either in "Group
E" or mainstreamed into groups with other students according to grade level.
Students in post high school classes are not eligible. Projects made by students
whose grade level places them in groups for which no awards has been listed
may be entered in the next highest group. Example: (An 8th grade student may
enter a machine metals project in Group B (9th and 10th grades) of MM-1 because
no awards are available in Group A for that classification.)
