Adapt-Ability, Inc. provides outpatient rehab services including occupational, physical, and speech therapy in-home or on-site. The agency also provides evaluation and consultation for assistive technology including customized wheelchairs, adaptive equipment, computers, augmentative communication, car seats, etc. A team approach to home modifications and job site modifications is also available.

Call-A-Ride, a program operated by the Bi-State Development Agency, provides public transportation for the elderly and disabled, throughout St. Louis City and County, on a demand-response basis. In the City and close-in portions of St. Louis County, only residents with disabilities holding a “Call-A-Ride Plus” identification card are eligible to use the service. The service provides door-to-door transportation for over 400,000 people annually on an appointment basis.

The mission of Goodwill Industries is to empower people with disabilities and other special needs to achieve their vocational goal. The primary function of Goodwill is job training. To support its job training operations, Goodwill operates thrift stores including two located in the City of St. Louis.

Office on the Disabled provides current reliable information on services, programs, issues, etc. for persons with disabilities to callers or office visits or through the mail. Standards for accessible design are available to architects, engineers, design professionals, and the general public. The Office on the Disabled provides: interpreting for the deaf services for all city services, programs, and activities; reserved residential parking spaces for city residents with disabilities; permits exempting persons with disabilities unable to activate parking meters in the City of St. Louis; training on issues related to disabilities; and advice and recommendations on facility accessibility for persons with disabilities.

PVA assists veterans and their dependents with Veterans Administration claims and benefits. PVA, a congressionally chartered veterans service organization founded in 1947, has developed a unique expertise in a wide variety of issues involving the special needs of its members--veterans of the armed forces who have experienced spinal cord dysfunction. PVA uses this expertise to be a leading advocate for: quality health care for its members; research and education addressing spinal cord dysfunction; benefits available to its members as a result of their military service; and civil rights and opportunities that maximize the independence of PVA members.

Paraquad’s goal is to further the cause of independent living throughout the community. It exists to change society’s perception of disability, and will confront and eliminate discrimination and paternalism wherever they exist. Its mission is to empower people with disabilities to live as full and productive members of society. Some of the programs Paraquad offers include: Peer consultation Program, Personal Assistance Services, Independent Adult Living Program, Information and Referral--includes Words with Dignity, Community Outreach, Youth and Family Services, Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program, and Employment Program. Paraquad maintains a branch office at 100 N. Euclid in the Central West End, and a telecommuting services center located at 4811 Delmar Blvd.
