This organization provides affordable housing, occupancy needs, and advocacy for people with HIV. Housing assistance placements, and referral is also provided. Recently, Doorways inaugurated a 20-unit residential facility for low-income individuals infected with the HIV virus. The organization is also developing a supportive housing site that will provide 36 units. Services are delivered on site and off-site.

The Center exists to provide total primary and specialized care for women who are infected with HIV. This includes addressing their physical and psychosocial needs by an expert team of health professionals. Physicians from the Washington University School of Medicine provide care for the women at the Center.

To meet the need of low-income HIV/Aids affected individuals, assistance will be provided to those agencies most effective in serving poor and under-served populations. Services will be funded based upon an objective assessment of needs, taking into account the direct input of people directly affected by HIV/AIDS. Housing Assistance is available to eligible clients for transitional housing and rental assistance. The subsidy program varies based on the client’s income and need. The Transitional Housing Program grants access to approximately $2,400 to $2,600 per year.

The Bureau provides care coordination services to any person who is HIV-positive; locates, coordinates and facilitates access to available services; will perform evaluation/assessment for the Medicaid AIDS Waiver Program; disburses HRSA monies; and offers a wide variety of programs, each with individual requirements. The Bureau participates in care coordination for HIV-positive persons, through referral to an agency which provides the needed service and follow-up to see if access has been gained. Staff are available to do educational presentations on AIDS prevention.

Northside AIDS Outreach Project

The Project offers information, counseling, and a variety of supportive services to persons who are HIV-positive, including homeless, have AIDS-related conditions (ARC) or AIDS. Services are also available to family, friends, etc. of persons who are homeless. The Project is designed to assist low-income and indigent minority clients.

Peter & Paul operates a variety of shelter, meal, treatment, and outreach programs to individuals who are homeless (not specifically HIV-positive). Since 1996, Peter and Paul has operated the Positive Direction program, which provides 10 beds of emergency and transitional housing to homeless adults living with HIV/AIDS.

EFA is the oldest and largest AIDS service organization in the St. Louis area. Founded in 1985 in response to the growing need for AIDS services, the agency has grown to include 19 staff members and over 200 active volunteers. The mission of EFA is to provide education on prevention of HIV infection and comprehensive support services to those affected by HIV/AIDS.
