![]() The institutions and organizations in the City of St. Louis are essential parts of community life. Churches, schools, and neighborhood associations are perhaps the most visible of these institutions, but by no means the only ones. In recent years, communities have begun to understand the value of "community asset mapping": learning what institutions and organizations are available within a community, describing the services and resources they provide, and then identifying the service gaps in order to achieve a high quality of life in the community. A variety of sources for information about institutions and organizations exist, both on and off the Community Information Network. None of these sources include everything there is to know about community institutions and organizations, but by putting together information from each of these sources, one may get a sense of the services and programs available through a variety of sources in the City of St. Louis. They describe the institutions that work with the Community Development Administration (CDA) in maintaining the growth and stability of St. Louis. Community Asset Listings and Maps. Also part of CDA's Consolidated Plan Five Year Strategy, these listings and maps of community assets were developed in conjunction with the former Project Respond (now Vision for Children at Risk), a youth services non-profit organization based in the JeffVanderLou neighborhood.
