  1. 1997 Block/Yard is Beautiful Contest.

    To: All Block Units Affiliated with the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis
    Sponsors: The St. Louis Sentinel Newspaper, Anheuser Busch, and the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis, Inc.

    Eligibility:

    1. Block Units in the St. Louis City, St. Louis County, and East St. Louis are eligible to participate.
    2. Your Block Unit dues must be current as of May 31, 1997.

  2. Neighbors Naturescaping

    Neighbors Naturescaping is a project of Operation Brightside funded primarily through a grant from the Missouri Department of Conservation. The goal is to improve public areas in our community and provide an opportunity for St. Louisans to learn about trees, shrubs and wildflowers native to Missouri

    Time Line: June 18, 1997 (5:30 - 7:30 p.m.)
    Program Kick-Off: World's Fair Pavilion
    June 28, 1997 (9am-Noon) Workshop 1: Plant Selection and Landscaping Plan Development
    July 19, 1997 (9am-Noon) Workshop 2: Planting and Maintenance.

    Workshops to be held at Neighbors Naturescaping Demonstration Sit
    1723 South Ninth Street at Soulard Street
    One block south of Soulard Market

    Workshop Registration begins at 8:30 am.

    Any group interested in applying for a Neighbors Naturescaping project must have at least one representative at the workshops.

    Project Applications Due: August 22, 1997

    Open to young people male and female who are interested in learning more about their African heritage through dance expression and the techniques of drumming.
