A Multitude of Opportunities
In A Safe Haven

Located in the Academy/Sherman Park neighborhood

Dignity House is located in the former St. Louis Artists' Guild buildingand carries on in a tradition of bringing arts to the community. Combiningsocial service, the arts, and education, Dignity House empowers both individualsand the neighborhood through intentional programming designed to help personsuncover skills and build a stronger community.


Particular programming varies from season to season, but the followingis an overview of activities and services which can be found at DignityHouse:

After School Clubs for children ages 5through 12 incorporate education, social skills, and free time.

Teen Club for middle and high school youth ages 13 to 18 emphasizingartistic, social, and cognitive growth as well as the development of leadershipskills.

 

Voices United youth chior is a city-wide chior of young peopleages 8 to 18. Participants, under professional direction, learn a varietyof musical styles and afforded the opportunity to showcase their skillsat local churches and concerts.

Junior Leadership Training for teens who demonstrate an interestin learning more about their own potential for leadership are given theopportunity to assist with younger children as well as meeting togetherin a supportive atmosphere.

Art's the Heart gives Senior Citizens a creative and social outlet.

Parent Advisory Board helps steer the Dignity House program asit strives to best meet community needs.

 

Summer programming for youth takes the form of daycamp and residentcamp. Through the collaborative work of Dignity House, the West End Center,Joint Community Ministries, and Clark Elementary School young people inthe Academy and Sherman Park Neighborhood will have the chance to participatein a full day six week daycamp program that will include academic, social,artistic, and physical grwoth.

 

 

 

Camp TAMBO is a resident camping program both children and teensmay attend for one week. Camp TAMBO (meaning That All May Be One)exposes neighborhood youth to outdoor experiences and emphisizes cooperativeliving within cabin groups and through-out the entire camp.

Among other activities, campers have the opportunity to swim, canoe,hike, cook outdoors, sing around the campfire, and build life-long firendships.

 

United Church Neighborhood Houses has been an integral part of its communitiesthrough our continuing involvement in the neighborhoods and with the individualsand families we serve. Our neighbors participate in our programs becasuethey know we are committed to working with them.
