    Better Family Life is an organization committed to strengthening the African-American family. They organize and sponsor events such as KWANZA Holiday Expo and the Unity Ball as well as provide programs for family and youth.

  3. Cabanne Branch Library

    Tues., Wed., Thurs., library is open from 3-5 p.m. An after school program is offered for grades' 1-6. Activities include: storytelling, arts and crafts, and movies.

  4. Community Council

    Meets the third (3rd) Tuesday of every month, beginning promptly at 6:30pm. Looking for parents, area residents, business owners. Show up because you care about what happens in our school and community.

    One of the Neighborhood Houses, Dignity House offers a safe haven for children in recreational after school clubs. Day time programs are offered for senior citizens in arts and crafts. Summer camp programs are also held.

  7. Mathews-Dickey Boys Club

    Leroy Witherspoon, athletic director. Facility includes, gym, tutoring room, multi-purpose rooms for dance, theater, cheerleading, karate, culinary arts, and other activities. Programs are open to all children from all parts of the city and county. They have numerous teams and cheerleading squads. There is a girls' department and a boys' department. The fee for a child is $25.00 per year.

    Generally the facility is open Mon. through Sat. The recreation center offers a gym, swimming pool, and weight room. There are activities for youth and adults.

    The Monsanto YMCA operates an after-school care for children 5 to 15, at the Washington Montessori School. The YMCA also services: Clark, Cook, Mitchell, and Emerson, and three Montessori schools: Euclid, Ridge, and Washington. The Monsanto YMCA is a state licensed program that operates in the morning from 6:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m., and from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the afternoons.
