What Is The Problem With The Compton & Market Bridges?

The Compton Ave. Bridge and the Market St. Bridge are deteriorated beyond repair and are not earthquake resistant. Both bridges service the nearby businesses, residents and traveling public daily. Located between Jefferson Ave. to the east and Grand Blvd. to the west, the Compton Ave. Bridge crosses I-64/Highway 40 while the Market St. Bridge crosses westbound Forest Park Blvd. at the intersection of Compton Ave. and Market St.

When Will Construction Begin And What Are The Detour Routes?

Construction on both bridges will begin in spring 2005 and will be completed in late 2005. Access to adjacent public and private entities will be maintained during construction.
