*** MEMORABLE MOMENTS ***

"There used to be a swimming pool in Carr Street Park right where the basketball court is now and let us not forget Carr School which is over 200 years old?" "We used to sleep in the yard (camp out) and were able to leave our doors unlocked. When we first moved down here, I was 7. Carr Square was a new housing complex, everyone was friendly and neighborly. At Christmas time, people used to walk around singing Christmas Carols. There was a man who used to fix homemade sherbert. We called him 'The Sherbert Man'".

                                                Rachel McFarland

"We used get twinkies and hostess cupcakes hot from the oven. Wonder Bread Bakery provided employment for many. Rose's (Rose Johnson) father worked there. There was the "Sherbert Man" who sold strawberry and Lemon flavored sherbert. We also could buy snowballs in summer and candy apples in the fall". "Remember the Smokestack rising from the boiler in Carr Square?"

                                                Loretta Hall

"At noon, every street in the village was clear of kids. By 3:00 p.m., the once grimy grubby inhabitants had emerged shining and neatly dressed, ready to face the cooler evening".
