The Accounting Services Section of the Comptroller's Office is responsible for all the City's accounting activities. Functions include accounts payable, central business index, general ledger control group, payroll, and risk management.

Accounts Payable

Reviews, processes and pays for all City expenditures for goods and services.

General Ledger Control Group

Manages and balances the City's Automated Accounting System (AIMS). This control function encompasses data entry, document flow, and generates all journal entries.

Payroll

Ensures City employees are paid on time and correctly. The Payroll Section has evolved into a "clearing house" between individual department personnel and the Information Technology Services Agency for data relating to employees' pay.

Central Business Index

Central Business Index personnel maintain and continually update files containing tax and license records. These files are used to process tax clearances and various reports.

Risk Management

Decisions regarding risk to insure or self-insure are made through the Public Facilities Protection Corporation (the City's self-insurance program) with the input of the Comptroller's representative.
