What does the election of President Barack Obama mean to you and the future of the world?
“History in the Making”
By: Nichole Stovall
A junior at Clyde C. Miller Career Academy
As a young African American female things seem to not come easy. I aim very high for what I want to achieve and seek only for the best in my education. As America proceeds into this very momentous event I sit and start to realize, I’m witnessing history. I must admit at first I didn’t really understand what having an African American president would mean. As the day of the inauguration became closer the more I realize that this is such a big step. This new prospect is a big stride not just for America but for me as well. I am so thankful for the courageous Barack Obama. He has taken the initiative to step to the plate and become an inspiration. As I am slowly but surely approaching my adult years I realize it is time for a change. Barack Obama is setting up an opportunity of a lifetime for my generation and those to come. As I live this historic moment in time I anticipate seeing what is yet in store and take what Obama has and strive for excellence.
What the country faces is not a small obstacle at all. With a new president of America we have a lot to gain and a lot to become accountable for. The future of America is shining bright with many opportunities. President Barack Obama has opened many doors for the future to become whatever America leads it to be. This is in thanks to those who had hope and determination for a better nation for my generation.
