Project Homeless Connect St. Louis
The City of St. Louis conducted its 4th Annual Project Homeless Connect on Wednesday, December 3, 2008 as part of a nationwide initiative to engage the public in developing innovative solutions to homelessness. First launched in October 2004 in San Francisco, Project Homeless Connect links homeless individuals to services that include medical treatment, substance abuse and mental health counseling, legal services, employment assistance and other social services. These services are coordinated in a centralized location with the ultimate goal of housing and self-sufficiency. 2006 Project Homeless Connect

Event Highlights Project Homeless Connect builds upon other initiatives the City of St. Louis' sponsors each year to connect homeless persons with supportive services and housing. For the last 8 years, the City has conducted Homeward Bound, a joint venture with St. Louis County, at which, area homeless residents receive information on the array of services offered by the Continuum of Care providers. Additionally, the City conducts the Back-2-School event each August, where homeless children receive immunizations, school supplies, and school enrollment information, as well as participate in a variety of educational enrichment and recreational activities. To date, over 1,800 school age children have received services through the Back-2-School event. St. Louis' 4th Project Homeless Connect will take place at Harris-Stowe State University – Emerson Performing Arts Building/Gymnasium – 3026 Laclede Ave., 63103 from 10AM - 3PM on December 3, 2008.
