Pamela Rice Walker has been Interim Director of Health for the St. Louis City Department of Health since February of 2007. She has thirty years experience in public health and natural resource management and a BS and Masters of Public Administration from the University of Missouri in Columbia.

Prior to this assignment she was Chief of the Bureau of Communicable Disease Prevention and Bioterrorism Preparedness for the St. Louis City Department of Health.

Prior to her employment by the City she was employed by the State Department of Health and Senior Services. During her tenure there she served as Director of the Center for Emergency Response and Terrorism, the Director of the Division of Communicable Disease Prevention and Environmental Public Health, and the Director of Policy Development and Community Relations. |

Prior to the State Department of Health she was employed by the State Department of Natural Resources. During her tenure there she was Director of Policy Research and Planning. |

|
Ms Walker has helped develop and implement programs that reduced the rate of TB and increased the rate of vaccines for children, reduced exposure to lead and implemented clean up of hazardous waste sites. She has managed programs in the areas of bioterrorism, communicable disease prevention, STDs, HIV, food safety, hazardous materials risk assessment, community health assessment and epidemiology. |
