| Operation
Weather Survival was created in 1981 to address the needs
of the community during extreme weather conditions. It is
comprised of public and private organizations working together
to prevent illness or death from either extreme heat, cold
conditions and ground level ozone. |

| OWS Summer Outreach Programs that work
to prevent HEAT-related illness through OWS are: |
| |
- Health Departments: Preventive education, temperature monitoring,
alerts, warnings, and data collection
- OWS Air-Conditioner Program: Provides airconditioners to individuals
who are medically at risk. Airconditioners are purchased with funds
primarily donated by AmerenUE.
- Cooling Sites: Cooling sites are open year-round. During severe
heat, hours and services are extended.
- United Way
