Values
Accountability: Accountability benefits everyone. Fair goals and expectations will be defined so each individual is clear on his or her respective responsibilities. We will all hold each other accountable for achievement of these goals in support of our City and departmental visions. People exceeding expectations will be recognized and rewarded, while under-performing individuals will be reprimanded. And, in the end, we will all be accountable to the public.
Teamwork: The success of any group is determined by its ability to work as a team. Each individual possesses unique information and only by working as a team - and by tapping into the diversity of thoughts, backgrounds and experiences of everyone involved - can the best solutions emerge.
Efficiency: Our ability to improve services with limited resources is dependent on our ability to operate in the most efficient manner possible. The CityView team will work to reduce red tape and assist departments in developing more efficient practices to deliver services to the public.
Leadership: Good leadership often operates by example more than by command. We must ask more of ourselves than we do of others, and be committed to assisting every department in fulfilling our common vision for improving City government. Are we open minded and willing to try new ideas to achieve our goals? Are we improving the quality of life of our citizens, businesses and organizations?
Communication: City government operates as a nexus of communication between all the constituents and organizations it represents. In addition to distributing information, City government must listen and collect information. The success of our efforts is directly linked to our ability to share information with other agencies, our peers and with the citizens and businesses we serve.
