Collector of Revenue Gregory F.X. DalyCollector of Revenue Employee of the Year

His willingness to help others and his positive attitude put him over the top.

Keith Brookens won this year’s Employee of the Year Award. Out of a field of 21 nominees, the employees of the Collector of Revenue’s office voted by secret ballot and gave Keith the honor this year.

Keith has worked for the Collector of Revenue’s office for eight years. Keith is the mail clerk and assists in the Support Services Department. He interacts with just about every employee in the entire office. He consistently wears a smile, has a spring in his step, and a kind word for everyone he encounters.

Because of his proximity to so many employees, Keith is often asked to do many tasks not in his job description. Keith is always willing to help anyone, at any time, and do it with a smile.

At a ceremony Monday, Oct. 19 in the Kennedy Room of City Hall, Collector of Revenue Gregory F. X. Daly revealed the winner, and presented Keith with his award and gift certificate. It just also happened to be Keith birthday that day!

Daly read touching comments that were written about Keith by his co-workers in the nomination process:

“Keith always has a smile and is always willing to do something to help you. He has a good attitude and is a very hard worker.”

“He is always, I mean always, willing to help anyone out in the office. Keith never complains about anything you ask of him. He is a gem.”

Former Employees of the Year David Jackson and Gerri Perry were also recognized at the ceremony, along with Taxpayer Pledge award winner Pam DiMercurio, for all of their valuable contributions to the office.

“Keith always goes above and beyond what is asked of him,” said Daly. “He helps make this office a great place to work.”

Keith was a bit overwhelmed when he accepted his award. “It is so nice to know that people, your co-workers, appreciate the work you do,” said Keith. “All I’ve ever wanted was to work hard and be a good example for my family and children. I hope today I’ve done that,” said Keith.

The day of festivities wrapped up with an Employee Appreciation luncheon in the picnic area outside of City Hall. The food was hot and so was the weather!

“It’s great when we can all get together like this and cheer on one of our own,” noted Chief of Staff Tom Vollmer. “Keith is very deserving of this special day.”
Congratulations to Keith Brookens on this great recognition!
