Losing
Never Felt So Good
For the second straight year, Deputy Comptroller
John Zakibe and Accounting Coordinator Diane Bjorklund were among
the top three individual weight loss winners. Zakibe finished second
after losing 34 pounds or 16.4 percent. Bjorklund finished third
for losing 24.6 pounds or 15.2 percent.
Their team, Just Do It Again, finished in fourth
place with a total loss of 80 pounds or 8.9 percent. Captain Ron
Hicks, accounting manager I; Beth Seright, administrative assistant
II; and Doris Hamilton, clerk typist III, rounded out the team.
The Weight Loss Challenge is part of the BeeFit
program administered by the Department of Personnel. Prizes were
awarded for the top three finishers in both team and individual
categories. This year, Zakibe won a digital camera and Bjorklund
a portable DVD player.
Elaine Spearman, the comptroller’s chief staffing
officer, encourages the entire office to be healthy.
“Over the last few years, city government has taken
a more proactive approach to employee health. We have the health
screenings in the Rotunda, the BeeFit program, yoga classes, you
name it. Most of our employees take part in at least one of the
programs offered which is great. Comptroller Green knows that healthy
employees are happier, more productive and save taxpayer money so
she really supports everyone’s efforts to improve their health,”
said Spearman.
Congratulations to all the comptroller’s office
employees and every employee who participated and lost weight.
