Seniors & Arts Project

The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts, George Warren Brown School of Social Work, and Saint Louis Area Agency on Aging (SLAAA) are currently collaborating on a community art engagement project. On Feb. 28, a kick-off event was held at the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts. Chosen representatives from the City senior centers and Silver Haired Legislature attended in addition to various Senior Center Directors and staff members from SLAAA and the Pulitzer Art Foundation.

The Pulitzer believes in the personal experience of art and is a small institution with a gallery space that strongly privileges the personal experience over traditional forms of teaching. The size enables the Pulitzer to work with seniors on a more personal level, allowing for innovative and tailored programs toward various populations.

The most recent event commenced with a tour of the Pulitzer’s unique facility and concluded with discussion about future engagement projects between the Pulitzer and City of St. Louis seniors. Discussions of future actions included individual senior center visits and contemporary art exploration sessions.

If you are a senior and are interested in being involved in the project, please call Anneliese Stoever at (314) 612-5918.
