City Employees, Youth Ambassadors Train for
Ready Rating Program
Employees of the City’s Department of Public Safety Neighborhood
Stabilization Office and Youth Ambassadors associated with the
City’s Department of Health gathered last month for an American
Red Cross Ready Rating Program training class.
The Ready Rating Program prepares businesses and schools for
emergencies that could disrupt their operation. The situations
could range from natural disasters to the possible widespread
H1N1 flu virus this fall and winter.
Those who attended the training session are now prepared to
speak at neighborhood meetings, schools, and other group events
about steps people can take to be prepared in case of an emergency.
To arrange for a presentation at your group’s next meeting,
contact either Health Commissioner Melba Moore at 657-1528 or
Joe Thele, Director of the Neighborhood Stabilization Team, at
657-1392.

Elena Sabin, Emergency Services Specialist with the American
Red Cross, instructs participants on conducting presentations
to educate the community about emergency preparedness.
