School’s Out Café

Summer is here and it’s time to dine at the “School’s Out Café.” The Summer Food Service Program sponsored by the City of St. Louis runs from June 4 to August 15. Young persons under 18 years of age can enjoy free breakfast and/or lunch at over 70 sites within the metropolitan St. Louis area.

Last year’s program served more than 85,000 breakfasts and 122,000 lunches.

Eligibility requirements are any person 18 years of age or younger and persons age 19 or older who have been determined by a State or local educational agency to have a mental or physical disability, and who has participated during the school year in a public or private nonprofit school program established for the mentally or physically disabled.

To become a food distribution site, you must be located in a school district where at least 50% of the students receive free or reduced meals and receive training as directed by the USDA.

For more information, contact the Department of Human Services, Youth and Family Services division at (314) 612-5941.
