Walking Home Event Scheduled

Walk in their shoes. Tell their stories. Change the world.

In an effort to enlighten people to the reality of daily life for St. Louis City’s homeless people, The Bridge (formerly Centenary CARES) will sponsor its second annual Walking Home event on Saturday, Nov. 14.

Participants will meet at Centenary United Methodist Church, 1610 Olive St., at 10 a.m. to walk to some of the many downtown agencies frequented by those who are currently without a home of their own and who rely on these agencies for their daily needs: food, shelter, medical attention, and other basics.

This donation-only experience is open to all, and is a great way for families, church and school groups, scout troops and work friends to learn the truths and myths about homelessness and what’s being done to end the cycle. A complimentary lunch will be available in the church dining room following the walk.

Honor National Homeless Awareness Month in November by walking the walk with those who are currently homeless and those who are working to help them find their way home. It just may be your first step in helping to change the world.
