Yampolsky Chosen to Lead the Missouri Silver Haired Legislature
The 36th annual legislative session of the Missouri Silver Haired Legislature concluded its recent session by choosing three members from the St. Louis region to lead the Silver Haired Legislature (SHL) for the coming year.

Bruce Yampolsky, president of the City of St. Louis SHL, was elected president of the statewide SHL and President Pro-Tem of the Senate. Jack Anderson, president of the St. Louis County SHL (representing the Counties of: St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson, and Franklin), was elected Treasurer of the Statewide SHL and Minority Leader of the Senate. Peggy Wilson, Representative of the City of St. Louis SHL, was elected Secretary of the Statewide SHL.

SHL delegates from all areas of the State met in Jefferson City Sept. 7- 9 for its 36th annual legislative session. Delegates debated and voted on 24 separate proposals during a three-day session that took place at the Capitol Plaza Hotel & Conference Center, as well as the House and Senate Chambers of the Missouri State Capitol.

At the conclusion of the session, delegates voted on their top five priority bills for presentation to the Missouri General Assembly scheduled to convene in mid January. Silver Haired priorities include:

1. Restore Cuts and Increase Funding of AAA Meal Programs

2. Single Entry Point for MO Long Term Care Services and $1.5 million in funding for Enhanced
Information and Assistance and Care Coordinator Services for Missouri's' Area Agencies on Aging.

3. Raise level for those Individuals on Missouri HealthNet (Medicaid to $2,000 for a single and $3,000 for
a married couple)

4. Pay Day Loans

5. Funding for Senior Centers to Purchase Kitchen Equipment
