Aging with Developmental Disabilities
The
Association on Aging with Developmental Disabilities (AADD) develops,
links, and supports opportunities and services for older adults
with developmental disabilities.
AADD is one of a handful of organizations nation-wide
that specifically works with persons aging with developmental
disabilities.
The Association on Aging with Developmental Disabilities
(AADD) was initially formed in 1989 as a special interest group
and became incorporated in 1994. The organization was created
to support the increasing needs of older adults with developmental
disabilities (mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism,
severe learning disabilities and head injuries that occur by the
age of 21).
AADD provides support to older (generally ages
45 years and up) individuals with developmental disabilities so
they can maintain their independence and be active members of
their communities. Supports include education, referral, transition
planning, retirement groups, and in-home support.
AADD is hosting its 18th Annual Conference on
Monday, May 19, and Tuesday, May 20.
This conference reaches over 200 professionals, families and consumers
and is a great opportunity to learn about the needs of persons
aging with developmental disabilities.
The conference will be held at the Holiday Inn
and Viking Conference Center, 10709 Watson Road, St. Louis, Missouri,
63127.
If you have questions about this organization
or about the conference, please call Anneliese Stoever at (314)
612-5917.
