Proposition S is a half-cent sales tax that will allow the City to do four things:

State Begins City Audit

I welcomed the state auditor’s staff to my office last week to begin the process of auditing the city of St. Louis. While the state plans to audit the entire city, the comptroller’s office will be audited first, followed by the treasurer’s office. The entire audit could take up to a year and half to complete and cost as much as $1 million.

The state audit is in response to the St. Louis Green Party’s petition to find out how the city is spending lead poison prevention money and whether those federal dollars are being spent fairly across the city. I expect the audit will answer the Green Party’s concerns and find some areas in city government that need improvement.

This audit comes at a time when the city is facing a myriad of budget issues, including how to fund growing pension costs. Uncovering waste, misspent money and other abuses may go a long way to help balance the city’s budget and improve operations. complete story >>

Dear City Employees,

The deadline for news items for the March Newsgram is Wednesday, Feb. 20.

We encourage all departments to find news items to send to us for the next edition. We are asking every department to designate one person to send us staff news, photos, information on events and any information you would like to share with your fellow city employees. Send us the articles in Microsoft Word with the photos separate.

We need you to tell us what’s going on!

Please email news items and photos to: newsgram@stlouiscity.com.
