Bicycles now are available to rent in Forest Park. World’s Fair Bike Rental has 26 Schwinn cruiser bikes available to rent: Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in front of the Visitor Center in the park. “We know many people don’t own a bike or can’t transport it to the park and we want to make it easy for them to bike on the paths in the park,” said Mark Erker, who runs World’s Fair Bike Rental and Catering St. Louis. “Rental bikes will allow out-of-town visitors to explore the park at their own pace.” Bicycle rentals cost $10 an hour with ½ day (4 hours) for $25 and full day (8 hours or less) for $35. Rentals are weather-permitting.
Rentals are for persons 16 or older, who must sign for bikes and bring a valid driver’s license and credit card or a $100 cash deposit. An adult can rent bicycles for children but currently only adult bikes are available. For example, a father and his 14-year-old child can rent bikes together. “At this time I only have adult bikes but I will purchase child trailers to attach to the back,” Erker said. Helmets are available and locks are provided so riders can get off and enjoy the park. Lockers are available inside the Visitor’s Center. Reservations are taken for half and full day rentals and for groups by calling: 314 361-4477. Catering St. Louis operates the Boathouse in Forest Park and the Perk Café and Trolley Room at the Visitor’s Center.
