Traffic
290. No soliciting at intersections.
291. Bicycling/jogging paths and traffic lanes
292. Need pedestrian crossing at Chase Hotel.
293. Reduce speed limit on Kings Highway to 20 mph and enforce it.
294. Tax for commuters from W. County.
295. Will Forest Park Master Plan / the 40 interchange reconstruction / Bi-State / EWGWCC groups PLEASE talk/communicate w/ each other!!!
296. Eliminate parking on Grand from Cass to I-44.
297. Stop tearing down the great historic houses.
298. Parking is needed in the Cathedral, Rosati-Kain area.
299. Use smaller, shuttle-type buses rather than full-sized buses when possible.
300. Provide a cab stop at the Metro-Link Station.
301. I-44, I-70, I-64 --- Turn into toll roads!!! It will virtually solve the City's budget problem.
302. Create a Farmers' Market in the Gaslight Square empty lots!
303. Put a pedestrian walkway over Kings Highway to Forest Park.
304. The metered parking that comes too close to the side streets make it dangerous for residents trying to enter from those streets.
305. Close Euclid to cars on the weekends (like they do for the food/art fair).
306. Provide electric, free, frequent trams going from Metro-Link to the ends of the neighborhoods.
307. Work on pedestrian awareness-especially at stop signs where stopping does not always occur. This is very dangerous, especially for children. Establish this as a pedestrian oriented community.
308. Keep the cul-du-sacs in Cathedral Square and add more security.
308. For the traffic going through Kings Highway, place overhead signs directing
traffic to Illinois to use the correct lane. This will avoid congestion and accidents in front of the hospitals.
309. Put left-turn signals at all the main intersections.
309. Residents are closed out of parking near their homes if nearby shops/businesses allow workers and patrons to use these spots. There needs to be a priority for parking for the residents.
310. Trucks should be routed to bypass the neighborhood streets.
311. Too many vans from Wash. U. Med and Wash. U. are in the area. Can't Wash U. people walk to their parking?
312. Wrong.
313. Poor traffic light synchronization.
314. Bicycle paths, especially to the hospital and shopping areas.
315. Very good idea!
316. Bike paths!
317. No more surface parking lots. Put street vendors / performers on the high-traffic corners.
318. No more vendors everywhere!!!
319. Daytime parking on residential streets.
320. Coordinate "stop" lights on Kings Highway, Lindell and Delmar to increase efficiency and maintain speed!
321. Add pedestrian/bike ramp across Kings Highway to Forest Park.
322. This is a pedestrian neighborhood. Add shuttles. No parking block fronts-structured or surface.
323. Inadequate street parking.
324. No timing of traffic lights to expedite traffic flow.
325. I like the new parking garage/library on Euclid that is underway, but it is a pity that they tore down old buildings to do it-there are street parking lots that such new parking garage and storefronts should go on.
326. Get rid of delivery trucks in traffic lane on Euclid, McPhearson & alley.
327. Work on Lindell between Vandeventer & Boyle.
328. Left turn lights on Forest Pk. Blvd.
329. Flow of lights on Lindell and Forest Park should be better coordinated.
330. Access issues-traffic versus pedestrians.
331. Inadequate parking for Maryland and Euclid area for evening walking! Restaurants!
332. SLU shuttle to neighborhood does not exist.
333. Make Lindell/Kings Highway more bike/pedestrian-friendly to access Forest Park. Besides residents many Chase Park Plaza guests would find the Park more accessible.
334. Need more inviting sidewalks and streetscapes to welcome pedestrian traffic.
335. Plan for pedestrians to have greater or equal priority as cars (including snow removal).
336. Restore Gaslight Square.
337. I live one block south of Gaslight Square and am against that idea. I think my neighbors are against it too.
338. Close Taylor Ave. at Washington/Delmar.
339. Yeah, shift traffic onto Boyle! Quit cutting off streets. It's selfish!
340. Provide parking at the Metro-Link at BJC.
341. Add a Metro stop at Boyle.
342. The Maryland Plaza-Euclid intersection is nearly impossible to cross in a car. It needs to be repaved.
343. We need to have parking permits for the street. This will reduce outside foot traffic in the neighborhoods, which in turn will reduce crime as we will be better able to spot people who do not belong.
344. Fewer stop signs. Stop the pro-Stop-sign forces.
345. Attract more high-profile businesses, either locally owned or not, that attract pedestrians.
346. Parking meters should be reduced, not raised in price. Also, meter requirements should end at 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. No one will have dinner and stop to put more money in meter.
347. Consider limiting the traffic of the small commercial businesses in residential areas.
348. Would like to see safe level sidewalks all over to encourage/support walking, that are also accessible to blind, deaf and people in wheelchairs. Very important.
349. The new floral medians in the middle of Kings Highway are lovely to drive by, but they offer minimal solutions for the problems of pedestrians in the CWE crossing over to Forest Park. The medians provide for no place to stand, so pedestrians must get over the whole thing at once, and they are also not suitable for walking around themselves. Bikes have a hard time on Kings Highway, period!
350. Create a user-friendly shuttle system connecting all areas of interest from Grand Center, the universities, hospitals, shops and restaurants. Use frequent, short run, small shuttles that are free of charge. This would allow fringe parking to have some impact.
351. I can't believe you left off mass transit!!! Arrange for shuttle bug to run later (10:00 or 12:00 p.m.) with at least 30 min. headway. This would reduce the need for parking! Get Bi-State to put up bus schedules at Metrolink stops and keep them current. Remove any inaccurate information, such as that which tells people the shuttlebug runs from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. if it actually runs from 6:00 a.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. weekends.
352. How about putting bus schedules at all stops? Plus provide a listing of what bus lines stop there- a self-documenting system.
353. Metrolink stop at Sarah.
354. Ditto.
355. More communication of schedules.
356. Expand service hours.
357. Need for residential parking permits.
358. Sponsor "games" teens can play using bus lines-to encourage them to use public transportation.
359. Restore the blighted Gaslight Square area and keep the 4200 block alive.
360. Prohibit parking at the entrance of alley ways, either with signs-fines-stripes, i.e., between Lindell and West Pine on Newstead.
361. When creating parking areas, don't settle for just a street-level one. Instead, use the airspace above, and maybe even create green space on the roofs of parking lots. Think of multiple uses for parking areas.
362. Vision for 2005: As few cars as possible. High parking fees. No car zones. Some decent mass transit. Mixed use zoning. In the meantime: Shuttle buses
from Metrolink up Euclid, (the one now is too infrequent, stops at 6:00 p.m.) and something going from CWE to SLU.
363. Pedestrian/bicycle access to Forest Park is a daily concern in terms of safety. Getting to the park adds to the quality of life. People live in the area and want easy access to the park-not driving to get there; otherwise, they could live elsewhere and drive to park. In general, pedestrian concerns throughout area need to have more priority. The proliferation of shuttle buses seems, at times, to impede traffic more than solve the issues they were designed to address.
364. Bicyles/walking trails are needed throughout the area with racks for securing bikes. Eliminate parking meters that deter people from other areas of the city to visit our restaurants and stores.
365. Visitors and residents coming to CWE by I-64 from the west need exits other than Grand and Kings Highway. The traffic there is terrible. I understand trying not to allow so much through traffic onto Forest Park, but we can't get in or out of the area very well.
366. Please get the Forest Park Master Plan/Highway 40 interchange/Bi-State/EWGWCC groups to communicate their plans and recommendations with each other or traffic will be a nightmare in 2004!
367. No MetroLink stop at Sarah! Consider street parking for neighborhood residents when adding in housing to area. I'd like to park somewhere near my home.
368. Extend the Bug Bus hours to be used for evening events in Forest Park, like until after the opera is over, etc.
369. I'm a 32-year, private-street resident. "Security" is vastly overrated. The ghetto has fallen down around us. We can almost not walk safely at night. However, security is also a personal matter. Police and policing can't save the foolish. Security is a concern of merchants and county folk. We don't need nearly as much as many would believe!
370. Pave our alleys.
371. Curbing and alleys need repair. Handicap sidewalk access is needed in spots.
372. More police presence.
373. Businesses need free parking, especially on weekends.
374. Please keep accessibility in mind during any planning process-all streets and buildings should be available to people in wheelchairs, the blind and the elderly.
