Sheriff James W. Murphy

Welcome to the City of St. Louis Sheriff's Department's website. I hope this site will assist our citizens and develop stronger communications with the public we serve.

The Sheriff's Office is responsible for the safety and security of thirty-one divisional courtrooms of the Twenty-Second Judicial Circuit Court and the transportation of prisoners between the Courts and detention facilities. The Sheriff also has the duty of serving court papers, eviction notices, and issuing concealed carry permits. Today, we have 178 sworn Deputies with an accumulated 2190 years of experience serving the 22nd Judicial Circuit and the citizens of St. Louis.
