Message from the Executive Director

We continually strive to improve the methods in which we provide services to job seekers and employers. The Workforce Investment Board under the leadership of Janice Rhodes just recently completed the first stage in updating our strategic plan. The revised Mission and Vision statements can be viewed on this site.

We also keep abreast of labor market trends so that we know where the current job openings exist and what skills are needed. By doing this we can offer job matching, job counseling and skills training that will lead to not just a job but a career. It also enables us to meet local employer job needs.

Finally, over the next few months we will be improving our assessment and screening methods to better prepare job seekers for the new 21st Century careers.

In Fiscal Year 2006, the wages from persons placed in jobs through the SLATE Career Center and its workforce partners accounted for annual wages in the St. Louis Region of $51,550,199. Keep this in mind if you are looking for a job or an employee.
