About Us

The new Reentry One Stop Career Center (REOS) will collaborate with community organizations to link persons with convictions to employment, vocational training, housing assistance, substance abuse, and health/mental health issues. The ultimate goal of REOS is to reduce recidivism. Data has shown that offenders who are provided assistance and connected to employment do not return to prison/jail.

REOS was initiated by a collaboration between SLATE, Missouri Probation & Parole, and U.S. Probation (Eastern District of Missouri). This concept has been used in other cities with great success including: Philadelphia, Baltimore and San Francisco. These programs have reduced recidivism of ex-offenders by over 30 percent.

Through a grant from the Missouri Division of Workforce Development,  a partnership with New Beginnings C-Star Program, a not-for-profit organization, has been established to provide outpatient counseling to adults and adolescents.  The primary focus is to treat people with the disease of chemical dependency using the C-STAR (Comprehensive Substance Treatment and Rehabilitation) Model that provides programming that is designed to maximize the therapy experience to include Reality Therapy.
