House of the Month
4462 Gibson Ave.
Daffodils are everywhere--and that lovely symbol of the City of St. Louis fits perfectly with our city's version of the "American Dream": a home of your own, all brick, with beautiful natural wood, and lots of room to raise a family. April's "House of the Month" is that classic home. Located just off Taylor in the Forest Park Southeast Neighborhood, 4462 Gibson has been lovingly converted from 2 units into a single-family home with three spacious bedrooms and 2 ½ baths.. The hardwood floors and natural woodwork--never painted--have been retained in most of the house. There is a beautiful fireplace mantel, as well as working pocket doors. The brand-new systems include many windows, wiring, plumbing, all new fixtures, as well as central heating and air conditioning. The kitchen includes new cabinets, refrigerator, range, and dishwasher. A master bedroom at the rear features a wall of closets, its own bath, and a private balcony.
Operation Impact developed 4462 Gibson as part of its "HOPE 3 Program" in partnership with HUD and the City of St. Louis' Community Development Administration.
The Forest Park Southeast Neighborhood is convenient to Forest Park, the BJC Hospitals and the Central West End. Forest Park Southeast Community Development Corporation has successfully rehabilitated over 50 homes and brought over $ 5 Million in private investment over the past four years, partnering with developers such as Pyramid Construction, McCormack-Baron, and Regional Housing and Community Development Alliance (RHCDA). Washington University Medical Center/BJC Health Systems serves as a strong institutional anchor and partner in redevelopment.
