Who's Who in Gibson Heights
Sonda Thompson is the association president and one of the representatives on the FPSE Community Council. Sonda is a Detroit native but she has been living isn St. Louis almost continuously since 1965. She has her high school diploma from Sumner High School and has done further academic work at Forest Park Community College and Washington University.
She has had many data- and computer-related positions. Currently she is employed at the St. Louis Business Systems Solution Center for the United States Postal Service as a Business Systems Analyst.
Sonda has long been active as a volunteer and she participated in many school programs as her three sons, David, Darrell, and Christian (now all adults) attended New City School and St. Louis Cathedral School. In her current neighborhood activity, Sonda's hope is to see each building on each tree-lined block well maintained with nice sidewalks, all the neighbors greeting each other with the understanding that the strength within the community is dependent upon their trust in each other, and children of different ethnic backgrounds playing together without fear. "I believe it can happen," says Sonda, whose favorite quote is from Shakespeare: To thine ownself be true, for as night follows day thou cannot be false to any man.
