Discussion about canceling the July 31 Community Celebration:
Vince Bennet reported that the Mayor's office was waiting to hear from the Council to determine the mayor's attendance at the celebration. The mayor's office had received a copy of the minutes of the July 15 Adams Grove Block Unit meeting indicating a consensus around opposition to the Master Plan. George Jones stated he was at the meeting but that no vote was taken. Kim Jayne stated that when Rev. Martin and Rev. Potter suggested the celebration, a political program was not the purpose and that the Master Plan had not been approved by the community and had in fact been clear that there were problems with the Plan. Additionally, the Council discussed whether the celebration would turn into a groundbreaking ceremony for Pyramid Construction Company's project on Norfolk. Marcella Palmeri explained that the project had been approved by the Forest Park Southeast Housing Corporation and apologized that neighbors had not been informed. Marcella Palmieri stated the Housing Corporation had nothing to do with this Council. Vince Bennett passed out another Draft of the Master Plan and a copy of the proposed program for Saturday's Celebration. Tierra Martin, working with the youth of Lighthouse Church stated the program looked to be more of a meeting than a celebration. There was a vote taken to approve holding the celebration based on the word "Final" being taken off the program. The vote was unanimous to proceed with the celebration. Bob Babione agreed to send a letter to Mayor Harmon stating the Council approves going ahead with the celebration. A motion was also made and seconded to include Pyramid's groundbreaking on Norfolk in the celebration. 20 yes 1 no 1 abstention

Meetings will be regularly scheduled for the 4th Tuesday of each month at Lighthouse Free Methodist Church at 6:00 - the next meeting being August 24th. Vince Bennett agreed to work with Pastor Martin to secure air conditioning or fans for the church.

George Jones announced a Youth Alliance meeting to be held Wednesday, July 28 at 6:00 p.m. at the Oakland offices.
