
The Gate District contains several stabilizing institutions. It is the home of the newly constructed Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Compton Hill Baptist Church, Christ Lutheran Church and St. Henry's Church of the Immaculate Conception. Its parks include Eads Park and Buder Park. The Gate District's school facilities include Wyman Elementary, Hodgen Elementary, Gallaudet School for the Deaf and L'Ouverture Middle School. It is the home of the Barr Branch of the St. Louis Public Library designed by Theodore Link. Businesses in the Gate District vary. Most notable is the popular florists row centered on and around LaSalle Street. This area is home to many businesses including Windler Wholesale Floral Company, St. Louis Wholesale Plant Company and Baisch & Skinner, Inc. In addition the florists row, much of the St. Louis University Medical Center Complex also lies in the District.
